my favorite things to put on a page are souvenirs. Ticket stubs are a natural embellishment for pages about concerts, plays or event photos. Travel brochures are great for trips. Just found brochures from a 1970's trip to Hawaii my mother took with her mom. These will make great embellishments to my pages -- adds authenticity.

Vickie,

Thank you for the valuable post here! I definitely agree with you that when you start building "bulk," that it is not necessary a good thing in some cases. Unless you have a "thick" binder that can handle the load, I think it is best to keep it flat. I have found in the art stores many flat embellishments you can buy for cheap.

I'm currently working on my in-laws love story. Have poems, love letters from the 40's when my late father-in-law served in WWII. I am amazed at the impact these books have on my family. They just love looking at the photos and reading the stories. My tip: scale back the embellishments to keep the pages flat. These books are definitely going to be handed down, and bulky embellishments can harm precious photos.

Keep these great posts coming! Very imformative.....

This article on the history of scrapbooking was very interesting. I was surprised it started over 150 years ago. I was really surprised to read that Mark Twain had invented pre-adhesive scrapbook pages for mounting pictures! I would sure love to go to that Keeping Memories alive store in Utah! Thank you for all of the very interesting articles! I enjoyed reading every one of them! Keep up the good work! You're doing a fantastic job!
