It seems summer comes faster and faster as the years go by! For those of you who completed previous scrapbooks up until now….I congratulate you. For those of you who still have yet to finish scrapbooks in progress….let’s get it done now! Summer is approaching and we need to get started on a new one!
When starting a summer themed scrapbook, think bright colors, stickers, flowers, trees, many small and medium sized matted frames for your pictures, and journaling of your summer experiences. The most common, of course, is the travels of your summer vacation!
There is much to experience during a nice getaway trip. Make sure that you take good notes so you won’t forget a single thing. The high points, the things that did not go right, and the new friends you made while on your trip.
It seems that the digital scrapbook is getting more popular now and most pictures taken with a digital camera is simply transfered directly to your computer and you email the “scrapbook” off to your friends and family. I, for one, would rather do it the “old fashioned” way….buying a stylish binder and filling it with your favorite embellishments and pictures.
Keep focused on what you want to put into your summer scrapbook before you start your layouts.

Hello all! I hope you are having a wonderful summer season so far. Thoughts come to mind on vacation scrapbooks. How interesting we would bring up such an idea! Yes, this would be a perfect time to buy your binder and get your camera ready for the summer vacation scrapbook.
Can you see you and your family at the beach? How about Disneyland? The beautiful scenic drive in a rental car? Maybe a picture of the rustic town you are staying at? Well, anything that rekindles a wonderful time in a place far away is a great excuse to start up another scrapbook!
When going on your summer vacation and preparing your scrapbook for this trip, here is a little checklist to be mindful of:
- Make sure you have enough film for your camera, or enough memory space in your memory stick.
- Bring a scratch pad tor remind you where you’ve been so you can make some journaling entries
- Think of how you are going to "theme" the binder cover based on where you visited for you vacation
- Don’t forget to save any momentos during you trip so you can glue them in your scrapbook
- Think of maybe making more than one scrapbook if you choose to share one with your friend or family member
Make it a point to start on your scrapbook immediately when you come home from your trip so your thoughts stay fresh in your mind.

Another one of our visitors has submitted a page from her scrapbook of when she took a trip to Mexico. Notice the fantastic pictures she took of the sunset! It sure brings the feeling of tranquility and a yearning to be there right now!
Notice the contrasting colors on the photo matts, a great touch. She also made a great journal describing the joy of seeing the unfogettable sunset. She made good use of the palm tree cut outs and the little 3-D flowers holding the palm tree illustration on the page. The blue page color gives the feel of the water.
