Scrapbooker Submission

We have a nice scrapbook page submission from Arizona! This is a nice family page that has pictures of her grandkids. They are very cute and outgoing children.

Here is an example of a nice family theme scrapbook that is made for the parents of the kids. I am sure the grandmother is very proud to make this scrapbook!

Scrapbooking and Rock and Roll

0

This is a very cool scrapbook video I happen to catch while “surfing” the internet the other day. I wanted to share it with you scrappers! I love the alternative rock song that goes along with it. Never mind that there is no narration for this short scrapbooking ditty. This is for pure enjoyment!

Scrapbooking for the holidays

0

It the USA, it is customary about this time of year where we have literally back to back holidays from October through December.

We start with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and then New Years. It seems that time will literally stand still as we prepare from one holiday to the next!

For us scrapbookers, it is also a busy time. We may have to buy 4 scrapbook binders and work on them all at the same time!

In either case, make sure you go to the art store or scrapbook supply store early to select your embellishments. Many other people are going to be buying up the holiday decorative accessories in advance to beat the rush at the stores and also to be well prepared to use these items in their scrapbooks!

In the next posts in our scrapbook blog, we will be going over the best tips for getting your scrapbooks done fast! You don’t want to be left behind or even procrastinate on getting these out! Good luck.

Scrapbook Recipe Book!

0

I was amazed by how creative some people can be when making a scrapbook. Can you say, "Yummy Treats Scrapbook?" There is this lady from Austrailia that put together a digital scrapbook and collaborated with many scrappers out there who cook and have "secret family recipes" and put together a delicious recipe book all "dolled out" in scrapbook fashion! I was excited to discover this blog site. You can visit Karen’s blog site at www.scrapsofmind.com

You can actually download for free, the finished recipe scrapbook at http://www.scrapsofmind.com/2008/05/28/free-scrapbooking-recipe-book-2/

Karen managed to give such a large scrapbook to all of us for free! The download is fairly big, over 3 MB. So make sure you have enough space in your hard drive for this! Enjoy.

Start your own Scrapbook Business

0

If you love scrapbooking, then you will love the idea of starting a scrapbooking business. What is involved in a scrapbook business? First off, you get to teach "students,"  especially beginners how to start making scrapbooks. And when your class is over, then you can collect the money! It is a great way of earning extra side cash while enjoying making scrapbooks yourself!

If you are really serious about the scrapbook business, you can even build it up to a full time income! The possibilities are endless. Part of operating a scrapbook business also includes representing scrapbook stores in selling their wares. What good is teaching someone if you don’t have quality scrapbook binders, pages, embellishments or tools?

Scrapbooking Materials

1

This post will talk about the many different items you can add to your scrapbook. The most popular category is embellishments. They can consist of anything other than a photograph, page or a journal entry.

Here are just some of the materials you can add to your next scrapbook.

Buttons are most common. They can be found on hand me down clothes, or bought very cheaply at your local fabric store. Speaking of fabric, you can buy very unusual and decorative fabrics that you can use to spruce up photos, full scrapbook pages, or make shapes that accents the theme. Paint can be a very viable way of making your pages unique. Just think of what you can do with custom colored paper and then add a touch of paint from your own paint brush. Ribbons can be used to make patterns or frame photos. Rub on transfers and stickers are great to add a special touch. Stickers are available in many materials such as paper, plastic, foil, vellum and glitter, to name a few. And of course we cannot forget the many different paper and paper textures available. The sky’s the limit on how you can use paper.

Some helpful tools used to make your scrapbook are: punches, scissors, and edging scissors, knives, paste, glue, ink pads, embossing machines, die cutting machines, double sided tape, adhesives, brush markers, cutting mat, eyelets, mini drill, glue gun, laminating machine, stencils. paper trimmers, stiching machine, foil press, and acetate. Of course there are many other tools used for making scrapbooks but these are the most common.

When scrapbooking, the most important thing to know is that there is no right or wrong way to make one. There is no rule that says you have to do anything in a certain way. Actually the more you are a "newbie" to this craft, the better! Make sure you have a plan of at least knowing what the theme is and make it consistent with the theme. For example. if you are doing a Valentine scrapbook, make sure you are consistent with having the color red throughout the binder and pages.

Great Resource site for scrappers

0

There is a great scrapbook site that you should take a look at if you have been scrapbooking for any while. It is called creatingkeepsakes.com

It is a very polished site that has many features. Some of the great things it has on it are; community bulletin board to share with other scrappers, featured stories of other scrapbookers, blogs of other scrappers, access to online scrapbook magazines, scrapbook store for your materials and supplies needs, they even provide a workspace for your photos and layouts.

The only catch is that you have to register as a member (free) with them in order to access the main and prefered features of the site. We have many favorable recommendations to this site.

Try this site out and give us your honest opinion of their service.

Starting a scrapbooking club

0

A great idea for scrapbook enthusiasts is to form or join a scrapbook club. There are many advantages to belonging to a scrapbook club. Here are some of them:

  1. Sharing ideas of scrapbook themes and techniques
  2. Able to save money by spreading the cost of embellishments, binders, etc.
  3. Sharing fellowship with other like minded people
  4. Being able to meet at many different and interesting locations, such as other people’s homes or halls
  5. "Buddy" up with other scrapbookers to encourage finishing up large scrapbooks.
  6. Just having fun!

Yes, having the opportunity to meet together makes for a nice way to regularly spend time to work on your scrapbook. Too many times, a "lone" scrapper may feel lonely or may make an excuse to drop time to "nurse" a scrapbook project. By belonging to a scrapbook club, you can feel that your moving forward towards finishing your scrapbook.
